More on MP3 Meets Cell Phones

If you've been keeping your eyes and ears on the wireless scene, you're probably tuned into all the talk about mobile phones that can double as digital music players. Ericsson already has an MP3-playing accessory for its T28 World phone, and Sprint announced this week that Samsung's long-rumored MP3 phone, the Uproar, would be available November 1 for $399. On the surface, the whole MP3 phone thing seems like a pretty good idea: Combine two hot technologies, create one hot product. But after getting an early look at the Uproar, I came away feeling that Sprint and its partners may be facing a hard sell, at least for the moment.
